Overview

Founder and director Kevin Jacques built a rapid-turnaround production workflow for artists entering the MIA50K Challenge, a competition for a $50,000 prize, producing social-first performance content around the competition’s required Rick Ross mural location.

The challenge required participating artists to film at the mural, publish the performance as an Instagram Reel, invite @miami50kchallenge as a collaborator, and submit that Reel link as their entry.

Content had to move as fast as the opportunity.

The competition created a short window for artists to produce, publish, and submit their entry content while the opportunity was active.

Because every entry had to be created at the same required location, Jacques developed a streamlined production approach that could move multiple artists through the same environment without making every piece feel identical.

A repeatable workflow built for volume.

Jacques handled concept, direction, production, camera, and edit across the sprint.

Each artist typically moved through a 15 to 30 minute production window with three to four takes. Four artists completed single-take formats.

Post-production ran alongside production, with edits completed on location between artist arrivals. Finished reels were delivered the same day or the following day.

The workflow allowed 12 artists to move through one required location while maintaining distinct performance content for each entry. Demand ultimately exceeded the available shooting windows, and additional artists could not be accommodated.

Beyond the individual shoots.

As activity around the mural increased, Jacques's role extended beyond his own artist productions. Lighting was made available to other videographers working at the location, and he helped keep the shooting queue organized as multiple artists and crews competed for limited access to the mural.

The priority was keeping production moving while continuing to shoot, review, edit, and deliver artist content within the challenge window.

The MIA50K sprint was built around speed without separating production from post. While one artist’s reel was being edited, the next artist could arrive and move into production.

That parallel workflow made same-day and next-day delivery possible across a high-volume shooting window and turned a single required location into a repeatable content system for 12 different artists.
